What do I need to rent a vehicle?
We only need a valid drivers license and an ID / Passport. Your age does not matter! Same discounted rates for everyone! You will have to pay the rental and the deposit upfront.
What does my rental cost include?
Price includes unlimited local mileage, maintenance, roadside assistance & standard insurance for one driver.
What does "unlimited local mileage" mean?
Local mileage means 150km distance from the Cape Town CBD. Should you wish to travel further, notify us in advance and for a nominal fee we can make arrangements accordingly.
Basic Cars / Compact Cars – R2.50 extra per Km outside of the 150km
Intermediate Cars – R3.50 extra per Km outside of the 150km

What are the payment options? Do I need to have a Credit Card to rent a vehicle?
We accept Cash, EFT and Credit Card (5% extra charge on card payments). You do not need a credit card to rent from us!
Can I have my vehicle delivered to me?
The vehicle can be delivered/collected anywhere in Cape Town. Pricing is determined based on distance (from R200 – R500).

Is it possible to be collected from the airport?
Airport collection can be arranged for a nominal cost of R250. You will be collected from the Airport and brought to our offices in order to finalize the rental agreement.
(Free registered SIM (Nano/Micro/Standard) provided with each Airport Collection (normal value R199)
I was asked to pay a holding deposit, what does that mean?
We require a holding deposit of R1000 for future bookings. This amount is deducted from the overall deposit once the vehicle is collected. If you are unable to collect the vehicle on the day you originally booked it for, we will hold the vehicle and the deposit for the next 3 days. If the vehicle is not collected within this 3 days, your deposit will be forfeited.
How much fuel do I get with my Vehicle?
Your vehicle will be handed to you with ½ tank fuel and must be returned with the same amount of fuel. No discounts will be given on vehicles returned with more than ½ tank fuel. Should your vehicle be returned with less than ½ tank fuel, The Estimated fuel cost will be deducted from your deposit as well as a R100 admin fee.
What does SuperCover exclude?
SuperCover includes all expenses related to the repair of the vehicle. (any physical components of the vehicle damaged in the accident / theft)
We however have an external supplier to tow our vehicles, this cost would not form part of the supercover and would be for the drivers account. Fortunately we have managed to secure fixed rates for the tow. These rates are considered extremely low compared to the industry standards. Pricing ranges from only R600 – R1000 depending on the distance from the office.
These costs will be charged to the renter over an above his deposit.
Our Simple Contracts
We have a very simple rental contract with only a handful of terms & conditions.
Our contracts re-confirms our FAQ’s and any damages to the vehicle will be charged according to our repair guide attached below.
Depending on the insurance option you chose, you may be liable in terms of this guide.
Our longest contract is valid for 30 Days and may be extended every month.
All new contracts will be emailed and has the same t&c’s of the original contract that was signed. You will be liable for all future contracts even though it may not be signed by you.
Extensions of contract and consequences for none payment
Failure to make payment will have consequences for MotoRent and the Renter. If any accidents are made and we have not received your payment, the renter will be responsible for 100% of all damage. (Insurance will not cover)
It is the renters responsbility to ensure that he is up to date with payment.
Failure to make payment timeously, consistent excuses and blatant ignoring may result in the vehicle collection.
If the vehicle is retrieved, the renter will be responsble for the cost of the collection and all other new damages to the vehicle.
The renter will also be forced to pay for the unpaid rental days at the rate of the daily cost of the vehicle.
Under no circumstances will late payments be entertained without prior notification to MotoRent.
What are the options for Insurance Cover ?
At MotoRent we keep it simple.
We only have 2 insurance options:
1) Standard Cover (included in the rental cost) – Customers will lose their deposit and will be responsible for 10% of the total damage.
2) Super Cover (additional cover) – Costs only 10% of the rental amount per month but if any damage to the vehicle your maximum loss is your deposit.

All items of a personal nature damaged or stolen from the vehicle will not be covered by us.
I don't like the branding on my vehicle. Can I remove it?
All vehicles are fitted with branding on the rear window. Branding is easy to remove and can be removed, you will be charged R200 for the removal and R100 per month penalty for not having branding on your vehicle.
Ooops, I got a speeding fine in my rental. How am I going to be charged for it?
You are responsible for traffic infringements while the vehicle is in your possession. You will be charged the fine amount + R150 admin fee per fine.
Once the fine has been sent to you, you will have 21 days to make payment to us. We are unable to renew any rental contracts if there are any fines unsettled.
NAG FINES : Also known as “No Admission of Guilt” are fines that does not carry a value. These are when the driver is in major excess of the speed limit.
These fines entail going to court and appearing before a magistrate. For these fines we charge R2000.
If your deposit has been refunded already, you will be notified about the fine and are still responsible for payment thereof. Payment will then have to be made in full to MotoRent within 7 days.
Who is responsible for cleaning the vehicle?
Your vehicle will be washed prior to delivery. You are then responsible for the cleaning of the vehicle for the duration of your rental period. Your vehicle is to be cleaned before returning it to us. Should your vehicle not be cleaned, a cost of R150 will be deducted from the Deposit.
If the vehicle is very dirty and will need a mini valet, you will be charged R350.
My Girlfriend/Boyfriend will also be driving the car. Can I get additional insurance for him/her?
Yes, you can get Extra Driver insurance for an additional cost of R30 pd / R400 pm.
What if the accident was not my fault?
Damages to the vehicle while in your care is your responsibility. We will try our utmost to recoup all monies lost from the person responsible for the damage. However, please keep in mind that very few people on the road have insurance and many are unable to pay out of their own pockets. In this situation, we are forced to claim from our insurance hence having to an excess resulting in the customer forfeiting their deposit.
We, therefore, recommend “Super Cover” insurance to limit your liability to only that of your deposit amount. After the accident, the customer would be requested to pay a new deposit before a replacement vehicle is provided. This money would then be repaid to the customer if we have been paid by the 3rd party responsible for the damage.
Negligence, Vehicle Damages & Call Outs
Any damages to the vehicle will be charged to the renter, a vehicle inspection is done when the vehicle is handed over. Any new damages thereafter will be charged to the renter according to the insurance they have chosen.
The Renter will be charged a call out fee for negligence. e.g lights were left on and the battery died etc
The renter will also be liable for all damages to the vehicle as a result of negligence. e.g not checking oil & water levels consistently.
As the vehicle is in your possession for long periods of time, we recommend checking oil levels atleast every 14 days and if you notice any leaks to notify us soon as possible.
Tyres damaged / worn due to negligence or irreponsible driving will also be charged to the renter.
My tyre is damaged, what should I do?
All damaged tyres to be reported to MotoRent. Worn tyres will be replaced at our expense. Torn, cut, damaged and punctured tyres will be replaced/fixed at the drivers expense.
During what hours can I return my vehicle?
Vehicle to be returned during normal MotoRent office hours on your rental expiry date.
Monday – Friday (08:30 – 17:00)
Saturday (by special arrangement – between 09:00 – 13:00)
Sunday (by special arrangement – between 09:00 – 12:00)
We have 24-hour security on the premises, vehicles may be returned outside of the above office hours but deposits will only be refunded once the vehicle is inspected the following day.
What to do when I am involved with an accident?
In the event of an accident please contact us immediately. Call / Whatsapp – 081 8000 300 / 400
1)Take pictures of our vehicle
2)Take pictures of the 3rd parties vehicle as well as license disk.
3)Take a picture of the Drivers License.
4)Take down all contact details of the 3rd party.
5)Complete accident report at closest police station to accident scene.
If it is a Major accident, we will arrange for a representative to assist at the accident scene and accompany you to the police station to complete an accident report. For minor accidents or “fender bender’s” you will still need to go to the closest police station within 24 hours to complete an accident report.
DO NOT entertain any tow-truck’s without our consent. If you choose to move the vehicle with your own tow-truck, you will be responsible for the cost thereof.
